英会話のレッスン中などで「AとBの違いは何ですか？」と英語で質問するときは何て言えばいいんですか？

似ているようで微妙に違う単語について質問したり、お店で商品の違いを聞く場合のフレーズだね。

「これは何ですか？」はすぐに聞けても、「この違いは何ですか？」という英語表現は慣れていないとパッと思いつかないかも。

今回は「AとBの違いは何ですか？」と聞く方法について見ていこう。

What's the difference between A and B? で「AとBの違いは何ですか？」という意味。

difference は「違い」や「相違点」という意味の名詞なので、What's the difference? で「違いは何ですか？」となる。

between A and B は「AとBの間」なので、What's the difference between A and B? で「AとBの間の違い (相違点) は何ですか？」となるよ。

そう。単語の意味に限らず、「この本とあの本の違いは何ですか？」などと聞く場合にも使えるよ。

このように What's the difference between A and B? で「AとBの違いは何ですか？」となる。[例文4] のように、between these two 〜 としても良いよ。

ちなみに What's は What is の省略形。
